It seems that playing for Team LeBron is far more inspiring for LeBron James than representing the Eastern Conference, as he won the All-Star match MVP again, 10 years after his last one. Digs aside, it seems that James really took it upon himself to better the All-Star game that was under heavy criticism in the past year as it lost all of its competitive edge. Or it could be that the Cavs’ big trades before the All-Star revamped Bron’s enthusiasm and energy levels.
Anyway, the more defense-minded approach fired up LeBron who gathered the most impressive stat line of the night with 29 points, eight assists, 10 rebounds and had 50% success rate of the three-point line with four made threes. Leading Team LeBron as the captain to a 148:145 win over Team Stephen.
Damian Lillard was the closest to James in terms of scoring with 21 points, only two players had more assists than him, and only one other All-Star had the same number of rebounds. He did spend the most minutes on the court though – 31:17. Check out LeBron’s All-Star highlights.
The 33-year-old won his first NBA All-Star MVP award in 2006, the second two years later, and now has become the player with the biggest pause between multiple All-Star MVP awards. In the 2006 All-Star match, LeBron had 29 points, six rebounds, and two assists, while his 2008 performance was his best with 29 points, eight rebounds, and nine assists. Bron now has the same number of All-Star MVP awards as Michael Jordan, Oscar Robertson, and Shaquille O’Neal, and one less than record holders Kobe Bryant and Bob Pettit.
