Unfortunately there are drivers out there who are awful enough to drive away after they’ve hit a car. But fortunately there are also people out there that are willing to do everything in their power to do the right thing — even if it includes hitting that cowardly driver’s car with a mallet.
The incident below was captured on cellphone video and shows the aftermath of a pretty brutal crash. Video shows the driver of a badly damaged silver Infiniti SUV trying to drive away from the scene. But that wouldn’t be the case as people near him begin shouting at him and banging on his window. One person even begins hitting his window with a mallet, because everyone carries a mallet these days.

I commend these people, but it’s also quite silly to try this hard to stop a driver who may or may be completely insane, and with a gun. Eventually the driver got away, but according to NBC Miami, he was later arrested.
Maxwell Oleg Lagutenko, 25, was charged with reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident causing property damage and fleeing and eluding a police officer. Thankfully no one was injured in the crash, that involved several cars.

According to police, Lagutenko seemed “to be high on narcotics.” Yep, sounds about right.
And if you’re wondering, Lagutenko has been issued 18 citations, mostly traffic related, in Miami-Dade. What a guy!
