What’s more awkward than helping your aging dad twist open a bottle of Viagra? Apparently, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle posing on the cover of Time magazine.
That’s right, Time has released its 100 most influential people list with seven distinct collectible covers for the masses to graze upon. But while the likes of Billie Eilish and Simone Biles were some of the faces gracing the esteemed cover, all anyone can talk about is Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s super airbrushed front-page debut.
The couple has been a bewildering cultural force since their bombshell Oprah interview back in March. And while many rushed to their defense dubbing them the modern face of English monarchy, others were forced to endure near-blindness at the amount of extreme eye-rolling caused by their American rebranding.
But now, with their $14 million home finally furnished and their private jet gassed and ready to take them anywhere in the world to speak about climate change, the private couple is inviting all the trolls to lunch with their appearance on Time’s coveted list.
It’s hard to consider the Duke and Duchess of Sussex that influential when they only have 10.7 million followers on Instagram, roughly the same number as @thefatjewish. (And we don’t see him making Time’s list anytime soon.)
But hey, when it comes to their covers, Time has notoriously gotten it wrong. Like in 1938 when they stuck a coquettish Adolf Hitler on the cover under the banner “Man of the Year” or a few decades later when Richard Nixon was crowned “Person of the Year” two years running at the start of his war on drugs.
So, it’s not surprising that the Twitterverse had some things to say about the latest phlegm-clearing cover choice of Marc Benioff’s trophy rag.
Oh, did they ever.

"Time" picked Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for the cover of "100 Most Influential" issue.
It marks the first time a celebrity couple has tried to viciously guard their privacy by being on the cover of "Time."

Nevertheless, I wouldn’t overthink this Time Magazine cover too much, guys. Prince Harry has a lifetime of being the second banana, and even painters picked up his submissive and secondary vibe. pic.twitter.com/lfKAOTBA0W

Like American Gothic, the Harry and Megan Time cover photo becomes a Rorschach Test for how social media's armchair psychologists interpret the power dynamic between the regally emasculated couple.#PrinceHarry #MeghanMarkle#TimeMagazine https://t.co/RHsu5v4dAV pic.twitter.com/sYRGJjPAkV
