Another day, another Pete Davidson news story. (Seriously, could this dude just go hide out under a rock for a couple of years until we forget he exists? Sigh. Wishful thinking.) The SNL alum continues his transition from small screen to big screen with a new Miramax horror-thriller called The House.
We know what you’re thinking: “Hey, this sounds like a potential reality show with Kim!” Can you imagine how insufferable Keeping Up With the Kardashians would be with Pete in the mix? Good lord.
But no, this is not that. James DeMonaco (of The Purge fame) is at the helm, and according to Deadline, “Davidson will play Max, a troubled man who starts working at a retirement home and realizes its residents and caretakers harbor sinister secrets. As he investigates the building and its forbidden fourth floor, he starts to uncover connections to his own past and upbringing as a foster child.”
Sounds enticing enough…if old people dying scares you. (Sounds like the natural circle of life if you ask us.) Still, some in Hollywood are psyched to see this story come to life onscreen.
“We’re excited to be backing DeMonaco’s brilliant vision,” said producer Bill Block. “James’ The Purge horror franchise has grossed over $450 million at the worldwide box office. With his masterful storytelling abilities and Pete’s versatility as an actor, this film will put audiences everywhere on the edge of their seats.”
We don’t know if we’d call Davidson “versatile” (it’s kind of hard to imagine him playing anyone other than a variation of himself) but we’re so desperate for new entertainment, we’ll gladly take a risk on what could be a clunker of a miscast movie. On second thought, Davidson is pretty scary-looking. Maybe this will work after all…
