Opening Day For the Colorado Rockies Turns Into Cat Fight on the Street, America’s Pastime!

You can’t beat a day at the ballpark, but you can get a beatdown at one. At least, that seems to be the theme among Major League Baseball fans lately. You can’t see a baseball game anymore without witnessing a fight, too.

The most recent example comes courtesy of Opening Day at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado, on Friday, April 8. That’s where the Los Angeles Dodgers took on the Colorado Rockies in their first official game of the 2022 season.

In case you didn’t tune in (and why would you? Baseball games go on about three hours too long), the Dodgers beat the Rockies 5-3.

One moment from the game that made the news happened between Colorado’s José Iglesias and Los Angeles’ Freddie Freeman. Iglesias got emotional while standing on first base. Freeman noticed, and asked what was wrong. Iglesias admitted his father had recently died. Freeman offered words of comfort.

“It was a beautiful moment,” Iglesias told ESPN. ”Beyond baseball, we’re human beings.”

Ah, but that was inside the stadium. Outside, it was pandemonium. A brutal brawl broke out on the street for unknown reasons. All the information we have is contained in this 32-second viral video.

In the clip, a group of young women get into a catfight. Things escalate quickly, and soon a dude gets in on the action and starts punching the ladies, too. (Take me out to the ballgame but don’t, like, take me out, man!)

Meanwhile, a bystander exclaims, “My car!” because that’s what we’re all really concerned with when the fisticuffs start.

We don’t know what happened to these poor souls, but we hope they didn’t get beat as badly as the Rockies.

Really, there’s nothing more American than baseball. Or a baseball fan brawl. Home run, America. See you at the next game!
