Armie Hammer Is Allegedly Selling Timeshares in the Cayman Islands Now (That’s a ‘Call Me By Your Name’ Sequel We Didn’t See Coming)

WTF is going on with Armie Hammer? That’s what every celeb-obsessed movie fan found themself asking last week after reports surfaced that the Call Me By Your Name star has a new, non-entertainment side-hustle.

First, rumors spread on Twitter saying that the great-grandson of oil tycoon Armand Hammer was working as a hotel concierge in the Cayman Islands (where his ex-wife and children live).

Then, TMZ shared photographs that appear to show Armie Hammer hawking timeshares. The images allegedly showed the once-promising movie star going over pricing of a timeshare with a couple last month.

“He is working at the resort and selling timeshares. He is working at a cubicle,” a source told Variety. “The reality is he’s totally broke and is trying to fill the days and earn money to support his family.”

“I can’t confirm or deny it because Armie hasn’t addressed it,” Hammer’s lawyer told Entertainment Weekly. “I just think it’s shitty that, if he is selling timeshares, the media is shaming him for having a ‘normal job.’ What’s the story here?”

The story is a fall from grace. Deemed the “Male Star of Tomorrow” by CinemaCon in 2013, Hammer’s career was on the upswing when a series of (unverified) Instagram messages leaked in January 2021, suggesting that he considered himself “100% a cannibal” and had violent sexual fantasies. An allegation of rape followed. Hammer soon withdrew from his starring role in the rom-com Shotgun Wedding, leaving co-star Jennifer Lopez in the lurch and prompting rumors that Lionsgate had canned him.

“I’m not responding to these bullshit claims, but in light of the vicious and spurious online attacks against me, I cannot, in good conscience now, leave my children for four months to shoot a film in the Dominican Republic,” Armie Hammer told E! News in his defense at the time. “Lionsgate is supporting me in this and I’m grateful to them for that.”

Within a month, Hammer’s career tanked. (Not to imply he’s the victim here.) His talent agency dropped him and his personal publicist stepped down. Then the disgraced actor retreated to the Cayman Islands, never to be seen again…until now?

We can’t verify if the TMZ pics are legit, but boy, if the apparent truth ain’t stranger than fiction…
