House of the Dragon is the biggest show streaming right now, hands down. The Game of Thrones prequel series has captivated audiences and generated a ton of buzz. But there’s one character that has more tongues wagging than any other: Daemon Targaryen, played to perfection by actor Matt Smith.
HBO describes the evil character thus: “The younger brother to King Viserys, and peerless warrior and dragonrider, Daemon possesses the true blood of the dragon. But it is said that whenever a Targaryen is born, the gods toss a coin in the air.”
Though Daemon married Lady Rhea Royce of Runestone, the pairing was an utterly unhappy one. Rumor has it Daemon can’t keep it up, though of course, being the misogynist he is, he blamed the lack of satisfaction in the marriage on his better half. Then, when tensions got too high, he killed her. So, yeah, this guy is bad news. But that’s why fans love to watch him.
