Britney Spears Has Some Thoughts on Sabrina Carpenter Kissing an Alien at VMAs

Britney Spears has recently shared her thoughts on Sabrina Carpenter kissing an alien during her performance at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards. The “Espresso” hitmaker took the stage to perform this year’s hits. However, there was one particular moment from Carpenter’s VMAs performance that had the internet talking. So much so, that it ended up coming across pop icon Britney Spears.

Britney Spears on Sabrina Carpenter’s VMA kiss: ‘It was weird’

Sabrina Carpenter had the audience grooving with her performance of “Please Please Please,” “Taste,” and “Espresso” at the 2024 VMAs. The singer was joined by an astronaut and an extraterrestrial being during her space-themed rendition of “Taste.” At one point, the singer had a makeout session with an alien before she started performing “Espresso.”

After Carpenter’s VMAs performance went viral, Britney Spears took to her Instagram to share her reaction. The “Gimme More” singer started the video by saying she didn’t watch this year’s VMAs, but she revealed seeing “stuff” about Sabrina Carpenter on YouTube. “Why is she kissing the alien on stage,” Spears questioned. “I adore her, I love her to death. I didn’t understand that part.” After calling Carpenter kissing an alien “weird,” the singer wondered, “Why didn’t she kiss a girl?”

Britney Spears said that she thought “the whole thing was kind of like, weird altogether.” The 42-year-old singer continued, “This Sabrina girl, she said my name on the red carpet, and I thought that was kinda cool.” Spears also noted, “Because I forget I’m famous sometimes ’cause I’m a mom, I’m kind of old but I thought it was kind of cool, this Sabrina girl, Carpenter.” She then shared that after watching she went, “Thanks, that’s cool! She made me cool.”
