This Is Why Kim Kardashian Reportedly Visited the Menendez Brothers in Prison

The Menendez brothers are once again in the headlines after the release of Netflix’s limited series “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.” The new season has reignited interest in the highly publicized trial that became famous in the 1990s. During the aftermath of the Netflix release, Kim Kardashian reportedly paid a visit to Lyle and Erik Menendez in prison. The brothers were found guilty of the first-degree murder of their parents, Jose and Kitty Menendez.

Kim Kardashian met 40 inmates, including Menendez brothers, in San Diego prison

TMZ reported that Kim Kardashian spoke to around 40 inmates during her visit to Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility near San Diego. Among that group were the convicted brothers Lyle and Erik Menendez. Kim was accompanied by her sister Khloe Kardashian and their mother, Kris Jenner. They were also joined by film producer Scott Budnick and actor Cooper Koch, who plays Erik in “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.”

Kim, who has been pursuing a career in law, regularly engages in conversations with incarcerated people. According to TMZ, the group discussed criminal justice reform with the inmates. Furthermore, one of the main discussion points was the Greenspace project, which the Menendez brothers have been involved in. The reform strategy encourages rehabilitation by beautifying prison yards.

Per CBS News, the murder trial saw Lyle and Erik testify that they suffered physical, emotional, and sexual abuse at the hands of their parents. The defense continued to argue that the Menendez brothers killed Jose and Kitty in self-defense. However, the two were found guilty of first-degree murder.

Lyle and Erik are serving life sentences without the possibility of parole for the 1989 murder of their parents, Jose and Kitty. Following Kim’s visit to the prison, several social media users rushed to her Instagram account to comment on the reality TV icon’s latest post, with some of the commenters urging her to help the Menendez brothers.
