A resurfaced Snapchat video from August 29 shows Liam Payne affectionately talking about his son, Bear, whom he shares with his ex-partner, Cheryl Cole. In the clip, Payne, who was celebrating his 31st birthday, said, “I didn’t get any dad socks yet, though. But I’m gonna speak to my son in a little bit, which I’m really excited about. Bless him.” The dad-of-one called added that Bear is “so big now,” further calling him a “big boy” and “a mini me.”

Payne and Cole welcomed their son in March 2017 when they were together. The following July, Payne announced on X (formerly Twitter) that he and Cole were separating but claimed they “still have so much love for each other as a family.” He added in the statement that their son, Bear, is “our world” and requested “privacy as we navigate our way through this together.”

ABC News further reported that Liam Payne was working on becoming a dedicated father to his son, who is now 7. In July 2023, he shared about his journey to sobriety and taking more responsibilties and accountability with regard to Bear in a YouTube video. The “Teardrops” singer thanked the boy “and his mum for giving me a little bit of freedom to go and get well in that moment because I had to.”

As per BBC, Liam Payne’s family has also released a statement following his tragic death, claiming that they are “heartbroken.” The statement further read that they “are supporting each other the best we can as a family and ask for privacy and space at this awful time.” Payne was 31 at the time of his death.
