Babyshambles Advised Against Splendour Sideshows

Australian fans hoping to catch the Babyshambles at one their Australian sideshows will have to find a quick Plan B after the band announced last week that their additional four Aussie headline shows have now been cancelled.

Playing at this weekend’s Splendour in the Grass festival, the band’s immigration solicitor has advised against playing additional shows in Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, according to promoters Secret Sounds.

“The band will be playing exclusively at Splendour In The Grass and will not be touring to other Australian cities on this trip. This is due to various considerations, including advice from our immigration solicitor,” said Secret Sounds, also the promoters behind Splendour, in a statement.

“While we’re disappointed the tour hasn’t worked out this time, we’re very excited about playing our new songs at Splendour In The Grass and we’re hoping to reschedule the other shows for some time in the not too distant future.”

Pete Doherty and co. are dropping a new album in September entitled Sequel To The Prequel, the band’s first since 2007’s Shotter’s Nation, but fans may have to wait a little longer than Splendour to hear new material.

Bassist Drew McConnell told Tone Deaf recently that the lead up to Sequel To The Prequel has been positive.

“It’s been the happiest and easiest time to ever be in the studio with the boys. Everyone’s smiled and played well, we’re really at the top of our games,” said McConnell.

“People’s perception is that Pete’s a fire-breathing, cocaine-filled vampire. He’s pretty rock and roll I’ll admit, but he’s also a beautiful soul.”

Tickets for the Babyshambles sideshows are available for refund from point of purchase.
