Sony Says 80% of Consumers Prefer PS4 Over Xbox One in Poll

There’s no doubt that the PS4 has had a much smoother ride since its announcement than the Xbox One, but what does that mean for sales?

Sony’s CFO Masaru Kato shared during the company’s latest earnings call that the PS4 has 80% of the interest from potential customers when compared to the Xbox One. Or at least that’s what the poll he referenced says. Despite this large claim no specific poll was named, but he didn’t hesitate to continue with the following words:

This is very encouraging. And we are doing our best to secure enough chipsets and capacity to meet demand at launch.

Pre-release momentum can have huge ramifications at launch, but doesn’t necessarily dictate the future. The PS4 just officially sold out on Amazon today after two months of being available. Meanwhile, the Xbox One has been sold out for almost that same length of time, and occasionally has performed better on best-seller charts.

Without being able to see the actual figures the next best thing are polls, and they show a very clear winner. The PS4 has continued to garner significantly more votes than its competition in a variety of polls targeting different demographics.

With Gamescom coming in fewer than two weeks, both Sony and Microsoft get one more chance to explain to consumers why their product is the better purchase. No pressure, fellas!
