Say what you will about Everlast…no really, go ahead and say it. Because the longtime singer/songwriter/iconclast doesn't particularly care if you agree with him or not.
The 90's House of Pain frontman and current purveyor of an idiosyncratic fusion of rap, country rock and blues has spent the past two decades utilizing his rock star status to basically say whatever the hell he wanted…with few excuses or apologies.
Put it this way — it's no accident that his self-produced recording label is called Martyr Inc.
Now, with the release of his 7th solo album The Life Acoustic — not to mention, an incredible set of performances as CraveOnline's August Band of the Month — Everlast is once again holding nothing back.
In a wide-ranging interview with CraveOnline's Johnny Firecloud, the man also known as Erik Schrody opens up about the new record and why certain songs from his far-reaching past were prime for a Life Acoustic makeover.
And of course, it didn't take long for America and the nation's current political climate to grab Everlast's focus. And if you think he likely falls into the "calm and measured" camp of the U.S. political reform discussion…well, you really haven't been paying attention, have you?
Listen above as Everlast talks about what it will REALLY take to enact some lasting change in Washington's halls of power…and what he's doing to prepare for the day when voting for change isn't enough. Agree or disagree, you can't ever say the guy is boring.
You can also check out the full Everlast interview — or sit in on his riveting renditions of "Sad Girl," "Children's Story," "Stone in My Hand" and "Broken" during his exclusive CraveOnstage session at L.A.'s Swinghouse Studios.
