Nine Inch Nails, Queens Of The Stone Age Hint Co-Headline Australian Tour

Australia may be set for one of the biggest rock tours in recent memory after both the Nine Inch Nails and Queens Of The Stone Age hinted towards a co-headlining Down Under 2014 tour via Twitter on Tuesday.

The Nine Inch Nails and Queens Of The Stone Age official twitter accounts posted simultaneous images suggesting a potentially massive tour featuring both bands.

As NIN dropped their “Queens + NIN: Soon” image, QOTSA followed suit with a similar tweet.

Both bands were rumoured for an Australian visit until negotiations between Nine Inch Nails and Soundwave promoter AJ Maddah fell through, leading to a small Twitter war between the two parties.

Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor issued an apology to fans after a the Soundwave rumour was shut down, saying “Australia: we love you and we’re coming. Didn’t feel Soundwave was the right vibe for us or our fans- working on a better scenario.”

Maddah, an often outspoken Twitter presence within the Aussie music scene, responded by tweeting “Sadly Trent wants to be mainstream now and reach Justin Timberlake’s audience,” and  “I’m no longer interested in working with them. I happen to like their existing fanbase,” among other things.

Both bands are yet to visit Australia since dropping new material- NIN’s Hesitation Marks and QOTSA’s Like Clockwork…, setting the stage for what could be an Autumn 2014 Australian/New Zealand tour.

“Everybody who knows me knows that Australia is my home away from home,” QOTSA front Josh Homme recently told Triple J. “I also think it’s time that we come and tell our own stories, so we’re gonna skip the round of festivals and see you in your [autumn].”
