Sony has preemptively opened up digital pre-orders for a portion of its PS4 launch library. Purchase is available on the PS Store, and includes the following game choices:
- Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag
- Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag Gold Edition
- Battlefield 4
- Call of Duty: Ghosts
- Call of Duty: Ghosts Digital Hardened Edition
- Killzone Shadow Fall
- Knack
- Warframe
Warframe and Knack were previously made available. It’s likely that more games will be added to the list between now and the PS4’s launch in mid-November.
The rise of digital distribution is something both Sony and Microsoft are trying to take advantage of. Valve’s success with Steam has been a huge shift in the market. While many PC gamers have shown a preference for digital, console gamers haven’t been as ready to jump the gun, but the tides are turning with even Nintendo seeing surprising interest in its digital offerings.
