Microsoft’s marketing style has always been aggressive, but usually only to its competition, not consumers. Today, following fallout from gamers upset that Titanfall will indefinitely be exclusive to Xbox and PC, an Xbox One developer struck back.
The confirmed Xbox One dev posted the following on Reddit:
All the people saying they will just buy it for the PC are forgetting who makes the OS on the PC they have to play this game on. Time to buy more stock.
First of all, that makes no sense. What does the correlation between a PC operating system have anything to do with playing Titanfall on Xbox One?
Secondly, he couldn’t have chosen a worse time to make such a comment. Microsoft has been battling a wave of negative news recently with Call of Duty: Ghosts and Battlefield 4 being confirmed to run at 720p on Xbox One.
Being the underdog with a more expensive console that has less performance is enough. Why make it worse with awful PR? Anyone who has followed Microsoft over the years probably isn’t shocked by his comment, but you’d think Microsoft employees would be more careful when walking on thin ice. The Xbox One has a lot to prove, and some serious challenges to face with its launch on November 22nd. Stay tuned to see what happens.
