Super Bowl 2014: Red Hot Chili Peppers Join Bruno Mars For Halftime Show

Red Hot Chili Peppers will join Bruno Mars at the Super Bowl XLVIII Halftime Show at MetLife Stadium in E. Rutherford, NJ on February 2nd.

“One of the most successful acts in rock history, Red Hot Chili Peppers, which is singer Anthony Kiedis, bassist Flea, drummer, Chad Smith, and guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, have sold more than 60 million albums, including five multi-platinum LPs, and won six Grammy Awards,” the NFL said in a press release.

Super Bowl XLVIII will be broadcasted live in the United States on FOX at 6:25pm EST.

And yeah, yeah, superfans. We know John’s not in the band anymore, but the pic is too appropriate. Don’t act like you don’t miss him anyway. Frusciante’s pitch-perfect falsettos, beaming grins and spastic guitar wizardry that yielded jaw-dropping solos, extended intros/outros and beyond, are a sorely missed feature of the 2014 incarnation of RHCP. To his credit, however, new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer has come quite a long way in his efforts to step into such large shoes. However, he just doesn’t possess the magic, or the backing vocal chops, to avoid standing out as a lesser-than replacement. Regardless, with a voluminous array of hits to pull from for the show, we’re sure they’ll rock the MetLife stadium properly at Halftime.
