The Assassin’s Creed movie will begin shooting in August this year, according to the LinkedIn profile of an Ubisoft producer.
The film, which is slated for release in Summer 2015, is mentioned on executive producer Fannie Pailloux’s page. with the listing reading: “PRE-FEATURE FILM PROD ASSASSIN’S CREED (August 2014 shooting / output summer 2015)”.
Prometheus and Shame actor Michael Fassbender is already confirmed as lead actor and producer of the film, though a director has yet to be decided. According to the upcoming film’s IMDb page, Fassbender will play a bartender who is kidnapped, presumably by Abstergo Industries, and forced into the Animus, where he is forced to relive the memories of his ancestors in order to obtain “powerful and dangerous artifacts”.
Considering that the modern-day segments in the Assassin’s Creed games have always been their downfall, we hope that the movie doesn’t follow suit. Considering the film industries’ track record of bad video game adaptations, though, we’re not holding our breath.
