This Sunday the Broncos will take on the Seahawks, signaling a once in a lifetime opportunity for nearly one hundred players. Each player has been preparing tirelessly since their conference win almost two weeks ago. As invaluable as that is, relaxation is a key component to arriving at MetLife Stadium in good health.
For 25 year old Broncos Linebacker Nate Irving that means spending time throughout these stressful weeks catching rare pocket monsters. More specifically, Irving has been spending his spare time playing Pokemon X & Y, something gamers can surely reason with.
Speaking to Wall Street Journal, Irving shared that he’s been playing about three hours per night, preferring it over the nightlife. He’s also been getting some battles in during travel, but tries to hide it from his teammates. Swirlies aren’t good for dreadlocks, I hear.
Irving is far from the only NFL player to play video games on a regular basis. A surprising amount of players turn to Madden NFL and Call of Duty for entertainment when they aren’t on the field.
Pokemon X & Y‘s is known for rewarding those who prepare and come to battle with a good strategy. We expect to see Irving translate his many hours of Pokemon skills to the football field this Sunday.
