It has been confirmed that South Park: The Stick of Truth won’t make use of Ubisoft’s intrusive Uplay service on the PC, and will instead be fully integrated with Steam.
The game’s developer Obsidian confirmed the news after being asked on Twitter whether or not it would require Uplay “in any form” in order to play it. Obsidian replied: “Nope, Uplay is not featured in Stick of Truth“. This means that the PC version of the game will feature Steam Achievements and Steam Trading Cards.
The RPG is set for release in March, after Obsidian was forced to push back its initial 2013 release date. It will be available on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3, with a pre-order bonus titled the Ultimate Fellowship Content Pack available if you pre-order the game on PC or at selected retailers. A Grand Wizard Edition of the game is also available, which comes with a Cartman figure, a map and the contents of the Ultimate Fellowship pack.
