Avicii, one of the world’s top EDM figures, has reportedly been hospitalized in Miami after cancelling a show at SLS South Beach in Miami Beach, according to Billboard.
Moments before he was due to arrive on stage, support act Cazzette broke the news to the crowd that the Swedish tablemaster wouldn’t be able to make the show. There’s been no official word on the cause of his hospitalization, though he’s reportedly been discharged.
“At the hospital,” Avicii said on Twitter, before deleting the message. “Extremely bummed about missing my show at the Avicii Hotel. My brother @Alesso is stepping up and covering for me.”
It’s unclear whether he’ll be available to play his headliner set at Miami’s Ultra Music Festival tonight (March 28). On Thursday night, Dutch producer-DJ Afrojack announced on Twitter that he was visiting a hospital to “prevent an early end to this weekend.” He later added, “Im ok, dehydrated and overworked, guess i got a little too excited.”
The DJ is currently working with Madonna, who took to Twitter and Instagram and said: “The End of a long week with Viking Leader AKA DJ Virgo AKA Avicii! So many great songs! #icantwait #revolution”. The words captioned a photo of the two artists together in the studio.
