Update: The 7.3GB Xbox One patch was mistakenly published by Microsoft earlier in the week. We have been notified that the update has been taken down and is no longer required for play. To our knowledge, only the game needs to be installed before playing. We aren’t sure how this has affected the other platforms, but have a feeling they similarly don’t require a huge day one patch.
Original story: There’s only a few short days until the release of the next entry in the Wolfenstein franchise. Called Wolfenstein: The New Order, you might be aware that it’s a visually stunning game. What you might not know is it has a humongous update ready for you install once you toss it into your console.
We have our copy of Wolfenstein: The New Order in-hand and can confirm that the Xbox One version has a 7.3GB day one update (our Xbox One currently sounds like a dinosaur choking on a bone while installing it). This might come as no surprise since, after all, we learned last month that the Xbox 360 version spans four DVDs.
We’ve also read from a couple sources that the PS4 version has a similar day one patch, albeit weighing at 5GB. Why there’s such a large discrepancy between both next-gen version isn’t clear, and presently there are no day one patch notes.
We’re really excited to get our hands on this game, and everything we’ve seen makes it appear to be a visually stunning work. Stay tuned for our review!
