Comic-Con might be the premier comic convention, but it’s always been an excuse for video game publishers to show off their upcoming games. Comic-Con 2014 will be no different.
There are tons of big games coming out during the next 12 months, and quite a few of them will be in attendance at this year’s Comic-Con. Some of them have never been made available to the public before, making this a more substantial video game convention than meets the eye.
We’ve gone through the list of confirmed games at the show, whether they be playable or featured in a panel, and boiled it down to what we think are the 10 that you need to check out. You can see the list in the gallery below.
The Top Video Games to Look for at Comic-Con
Assassin's Creed Unity (Ubisoft)
Assassin's Creed Unity is one of the biggest games of the year. It brings with it a new engine that has been impressive in every demo we've seen to this point. Besides looking a whole lot better than previous iterations of the franchise, it'll have co-op. Even if you're burned out of Assassin's Creed , this game is worth checking out.
There will be a panel on Friday that focuses on the gameplay elements of Assassin's Creed Unity . Made better, all signs point toward it being playable on the show floor.
Panel: Friday @ 2:00-3:00pm, Room 6BCF - Heads Will Roll! Assassin's Creed Unity Demo and Q&A
Bayonetta 2 (Nintendo)
The first Bayonetta is one of the best in its genre ever, so it's no surprise that its successor has been getting a lot of attention.
Bayonetta 2 looks fun and stylish, living up to its name. If you fancy games like God of War and Ninja Gaiden , this is a game you need to get your hands on. It could very well sell you on a Wii U—it's exclusive.
Nintendo has confirmed that Bayonetta 2 will be playable to anyone at the show.

Dragon Age: Inquisition (EA)
Yes, the Dragon Age name was tarnished with Dragon Age 2 , but don't let that fool you. BioWare learned a lot of lessons from its second Dragon Age release, and has a game nearing release that could very well be better than the award-winning Dragon Age: Origins .
Dragon Age: Inquisition will be the biggest EA game at the show. It'll be playable, shown in panels, and even be the centerpiece of a big Dragon Egg Hunt.
Panel: TBA
Far Cry 4 (Ubisoft)
Far Cry 4 stunned a lot of people at E3, and it'll share itself with a new audience at Comic-Con 2014.
Far Cry 4 sounds like a sequel done right. Ubisoft Montreal is improving upon the elements that prevented Far Cry 3 from being a masterpiece, things like how the story is delivered and the open-world gameplay. This is the first-person shooter to look forward to.
Far Cry 4 isn't confirmed to be on the show floor, but there's a chance it'll join Assassin's Creed Unity in the Ubisoft booth. We do know that there will be a one-hour panel centered around the game, though.
Panel: Thursday @ 3:15-4:15pm, Room 6DE - The Inspiration that Brought Far Cry 4's Kyrat to Life and the Quest for Everest
Halo: The Master Chief Collection (Microsoft)
343 Industries has demonstrated that it loves bringing its games to conventions, and Halo: The Master Chief Collection is their latest gem to show off to the masses.
Featuring the four original Halo games, all of which support 1080p resolution, Halo: The Master Chief Collection is arguably Microsoft's biggest release of 2014. Its announcement was met with applause at E3, but it was nowhere to be seen at the show. Comic-Con is changing that.
Not only will Halo: The Master Chief Collection be playable at the show, but there will be a couple of panels centered around the Halo franchise.
Panels: Thursday @ 11:45-12:45pm, Room 6BCF - Halo: Nightfall: A First Look
Friday @ 10:15-11:15am, Room 6BCF - Halo: The Master Chief Collection Panel 343 Industries and Certain Affinity provide extensive details on the Halo: The Master Chief Collection.
Mass Effect 4 (EA)
Let's be clear, Mass Effect 4 probably won't be playable at any convention until 2016. That doesn't mean we can't discuss it and get a good look at what it's about, though.
Continuing what some would argue was the best RPG franchise of last-generation, Mass Effect 4 is a huge game that BioWare is taking its time with. It sounds great, and you can hear more about it on Saturday during its panel.
Panel: Saturday @ 2:00-3:00pm, Room 25ABC - Charting a Course: Developing the Next Mass Effect
Oculus Rift
Okay, so Oculus Rift isn't a video game, but it's arguably the most exciting thing on this list. I mean, it's virtual reality for crying out loud.
If you want to try out Oculus Rift's latest development kit, this is your chance. Oculus VR will have a booth set up at the show where you can play with it for a few minutes.
At E3 2014 the line to use Oculus Rift was several hours long, so make sure you attack this booth early. It'll be worth it.

Sunset Overdrive (Microsoft)
Sunset Overdrive was one of our favorite games at E3 this year. It spends all its energy on being fun and entertaining. The result is a game that could be one of this Fall's finest.
Not only will Sunset Overdrive be playable, but a panel is scheduled for Thursday which offers insight into how Insomniac designed the visual style of the game.
Panel: Thursday @ 5:00-6:00pm, Room 5AB - The Fusion of Art and Style in Sunset Overdrive
Super Smash Bros. (Nintendo)
Earning the top spot in our E3 Best of Show awards, Super Smash Bros. is everything you look for in a game. It can be casual or competitive, great at single-player, but even better in online or offline multiplayer. Frankly, it does everything well. It's no surprise that it amassed crowds at E3.
There won't be a panel for Super Smash Bros. , but it'll be playable. Additionally, there are rumblings that a sponsored tournament will be at the event where players can compete for prizes.
Panel: N/A
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (Warner Bros.)
It seems like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has been at every convention for the last two years. The truth is, great RPGs take a long time to develop, and everything we've seen of the game indicates that it's a great RPG.
Comic-Con 2014 will be the first event to open up The Witcher 3 to the public, offering them a chance to play as Geralt of Rivia in its massive open-world environment. There will also be a panel to kick off the show on Thursday which will be moderated by Geoff Keighley. Yeah, it's sort of a big deal.
Panel: Thursday @ 10:00-11:00am, Room 6A - The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
