Slipknot are returning to both the studio and the stage, with the release of .5: The Gray Chapter, the band’s fifth studio album. The record, which arrives on October 21, will be immediately followed by a North American “Prepare For Hell” tour, promoted exclusively by Live Nation and featuring supporting acts Korn and King 810. The first dates will be featured appearances at the band’s own curated Knotfest (October 24-26).
.5: The Gray Chapter is available for pre-order on the iTunes Store, with all pre-orders receiving instant downloads of the album’s crushing new song “The Devil In I” as well as “The Negative One”. The album’s title is undoubtedly an homage to their fallen bassist Paul Gray, the passing of whom sent the band into a tailspin of uncertainty over the past two years.
The record is also available in a wide range of distinctive versions, including standard and special edition CDs (two bonus tracks and expanded packaging) as well as limited edition, colored vinyl double LP set.
“We’ve been waiting a long time for this,” said Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor. “Not only do we get to tour with friends who we respect, we’ve also chosen a band that represents the fury of the future. Slipknot is coming to your town. And hell’s coming with us.”
