Earlier this year, “Spartacus” creator Steven S. DeKnight joined Marvel’s “Daredevil” as the new showrunner after Drew Goddard stepped down to focus on The Sinister Six movie for Sony. “Daredevil” is the first of four Marvel Cinematic Universe TV series being produced for Netflix that will culminate in an eight part team up miniseries called “The Defenders.”
While DeKnight is currently overseeing production of “Daredevil’s” 13 episode run, he recently revealed that even he doesn’t know if “Daredevil” will get a second season. While speaking with Paste Magazine, DeKnight said “I honestly have no idea. That’s so far above my pay grade. Making it even more complicated is the fact that [Daredevil] is one part of the bigger plan— Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and then The Defenders. How that all fits together, and whether or not there will be a second season of this show—or if it will fold into the others—are question nobody really has answers to yet.”
DeKnight added that “we’ve been talking about some very cool stuff for Season Two that, good God, I can’t even hint at! It’s something that would be just fantastic to work on!”

Former “Boardwalk Empire” co-star Charlie Cox is slated to play Matt Murdock aka Daredevil, with Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk aka The Kingpin, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Scott Glenn as Stick and Rosario Dawson in a currently unrevealed role.
It’s worth noting that Marvel has not announced casting for Bullseye and Elektra, two of the key figures in Daredevil’s history. If the Netflix series gets another season, it’s likely that both of those characters will show up.
The cast of “Daredevil” will make their first public appearance together next month at the New York Comic Con. The “Daredevil” series will premiere on Netflix in 2015.
