Queen has released a new song called “Let Me In Your Heart Again,” with vocals from iconic late frontman Freddie Mercury.
The release, a part of Coca-Cola and (RED)’s campaign to raise AIDS awareness, was remixed by William Orbit using Mercury’s original vocals. It’s a part of the “Share the Sound of an AIDS-Free Generation” compilation of releases including Aloe Blacc (“Together” is out November 10), Wyclef Jean Featuring Avicii (“Divine Sorrow,” November 17) and OneRepublic (“I Lived” (RED) Remix, November 24).
Queen guitarist Brian May released a statement on the release and the cause: “It’s been 23 years since the world lost our beloved Freddie Mercury. We’ve made extraordinary progress in the fight against AIDS in that time. But we cannot simply rest on the fact that the treatment is available. We must ensure that it is provided. Roger and I are proud to lend this rediscovered song to the (Coca-Cola) RED campaign, in the hope that Freddie’s powerful voice can inspire the world yet again.”
It’s a damn fine thing to hear Freddie’s vocals once again, despite an oddity of a song. Listen to the track below.
