The Taliban attack on the school more than 140 children and staff shot dead by the terrorist organisation, with half a dozen gunmen entering the school before “shooting at random”, according to police officer Javed Khan. Now boxer Amir is hoping to aid the redevelopment of the school, and to also help bolster its security in the future, donating a pair of shorts with a 24-carat gold thread around their waistband, which he wore during his fight with Devon Alexander.
Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, Khan said: “It was just very sad to see innocent kids being killed. I can only imagine what the parents are going through.”
He continued: “We’re very lucky in England. We have good security and I will be able to send my little girl to school and know she will be fine but in Pakistan you cannot do that.
“They send the kids outside the house and don’t know if they are going to come back. It’s very sad to know that.”
The shorts, designed by Fight Label owner Sophie Whittam, were produced in collaboration with company 24KT.
