In addition to a surprise upset win for Album of The Year, Beck has won the award for Best Rock Album at the 2015 Grammy Awards, despite the fact that his Morning Phase record isn’t Rock by any stretch of the imagination. But when you have a nominee field like this, it’s a little easier to understand:

Ridiculous. An avalanche of legitimate Rock releases were offered in 2014, but instead we have a nominee party that includes Jack White wannabes, fake “punk rock” iTunes invaders and one dude who, well, kinda rocks. This is goddamned ridiculous, no matter which way you cut it. We love Beck, and our review of this awesome album proves that, but this aint Rock. No way.
