Borderlands 2 was one of 2012's best co-operative games, allowing for up to four players to choose one of four characters and start kicking butt together. It reigns as arguably the best first-person shooter for co-operative play, sporting customization and seemingly endless weaponry to keep things interesting.
Borderlands 2 has a good story, charismatic visuals, and a heavy dose of addictive FPS gameplay. It helps that it isn't an overly violent shooter like most games these days. There's nothing quite like it. Most of all, it's fun.
Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition

Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition is a consolized version of Diablo 3 that features split-screen co-op. In it you and up to three partners destroy cruel enemies while on the search for gear and weapon upgrades. It isn't a game suitable for all couples, but fits a great niche.

Lego games are always a safe bet, and Lego Marvel Super Heroes is arguably the best game in the series. It lets you and up to three others take on the role of one of many popular heroes. It's action-oriented, finds ways to make co-operative play fun, and is so light-hearted there's no way your girlfriend will dislike it.
LittleBigPlanet 3

Best For: The girlfriend who loves adorable things.
LittleBigPlanet 3 's world is constructed of the sort of materials you'd find at Michael's, and sounds the alarm on the cute-o-meter. Whether your girlfriend is an artistic type, or just loves fluffy animals, she's sure to fall prey to LittleBigPlanet 's charm.
