Nick Young has Iggy Azalea’s back, and could be in a bit of hot water himself after an insinuation of a threat in response to an off-color comment by ESPN SportsCenter anchor Robert Flores about his girlfriend (above).
Flores’ comment, in full: “And what did we learn? We learned that according to the Lakers’ Nick Young a dolphin recently tried to kill him. So Nick while dolphins are trying to kill you, your girlfriend is trying to kill hip hop. Let’s call it even, OK?”
After Flores’ silly side-shot Monday morning, Young took to Twitter to let Flores know the two had problems:
In Flores’ defense, there may just be an argument to be made that a white suburban Australian girl with a fake-thug accent and a history of some undeniably racist comments on Twitter is doing the genre an injustice. And given that her pre-teen legions of fans truly buy into her meticulously rehearsed bad-bitch schtick that borders on verbal blackface, who’s really more in the wrong here – a TV anchor throwing a dose of fairly accurate shade, or a basketball star trying to publicly intimidate him?
