Earlier this year Marvel featured rap duo Run The Jewels on variant covers for Howard The Duck and Deadpool, and now they’re continuing their love affair with hip-hop, announcing 50 covers appropriating classic hip-hop albums with Marvel characters.
“For years, Marvel Comics and hip-hop culture have been engaged in an ongoing dialogue,” said Editor-in-chief Alonso.
“Beginning this October, we will shine a spotlight on the seamless relationship between those two unique forces.”
As a taster we’ve been gifted 11 of the covers and already they’re looking phenomenal. Dr. Dre’s The Chronic appropriately becomes Dr. Strange’s The Mystic, De La Soul are morphed in The X-Men, and Tyler, The Creator becomes Squirrel Girl.
The best yet though has to be 50 Cent’s Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ which is now Ironman’s Invincible.
Lauryn Hill, Wu-Tang Clan and A$AP Rocky also get the Marvel treatment with spectacular results.
