Mel “Mad Max” Gibson is back in the headlines today after being accused of pushing and verbally abusing a photographer, allegedly calling News Corp photographer Kristi Miller a “dog” and worse.
“He was spitting in my face as he was yelling at me, calling me a dog, saying I’m not even a human being and I will go to hell. He swore and called me a c… It was non-stop, he didn’t even breathe,” Miller told The Daily Telegraph.
The incident, which allegedly occurred at 6:30pm Sunday evening outside Sydney’s Palace Verona Cinema following a film screening, saw the Oscar nominated actor and film-maker reportedly follow and chase the photographer after she snapped a photo of him and his girlfriend 24 year old Rosalind Ross.
“I took a photo of Mel and his girlfriend and when I turned around he shoved my back really hard,” Miller continued, adding that she “thought he was going to punch me in the face.”
She claims that Gibson stood over her with a clenched fist as Ross tried to calm him down, eventually stopping the tirade and apologising to Miller on Gibson’s behalf.
Gibson’s reps have since told media outlets that the actor did “not shove, or spit at anyone”, and that the allegation “is a complete lie.”
Gibson is in Australia to shoot the film Hacksaw Ridge, described as a World War II epic.
The NSW Police spokeswoman said Surry Hills Local Area Command Police were looking into the alleged incident.
