Utah rockers The CMDWN are hitting their stride with a strong showing in 2015 as a revitalized unit, emerging with a new style and sound that blends their earlier influence with a dark R&B aura. Comprised of former members of the hardcore band Sea Swallowed Us Whole and others, the band recently unveiled their debut single “This High” with Loudwire just prior to making their full band debut on the main stage at Loudwire Music Fest. Since then, the band has been working their asses off to make the best music video possible for the single – and Crave is proud to exclusively premiere the final results.
The CMDWN traveled to Los Angeles to work with up-and-coming directors Tyler Forrest & Justin Kroger. Together, they explored their setting for the shoot, and pulled together all the equipment and props to create a concept right then and there. Every option they found ended up adding more of the dark, longing, and energetic vibe “This High” presents musically. As a mysterious box enchants the band, the video shows a more personal side of the song’s theme, expressing obsession and ignoring the future, or its consequences. The box is soon shown to be an ancient phonograph, which may have a particular magnetism to it…
“We are very excited to bring a visual element to add to the feeling and atmosphere that we created with ‘This High’,” the band shared in a statement to Crave, “and can’t wait to hear what our fans think of the video.”
