Netflix has a Jessica Jones problem. Marvel Comics fans know who she is, but to the general public, Jessica Jones is simply a character that they’ve never heard of before. And yet Marvel has been trying to get a Jessica Jones TV series off the ground long before the Netflix deal that brought Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Jessica Jones to the streaming service.
In the second teaser for Jessica Jones, Netflix makes the curious decision to avoid showing Krysten Ritter’s face as she portrays Jessica. But the new teaser says a lot about her as she strolls through a bar after beating up everyone and nonchalantly disarming the only person who was dumb enough to try to pull a knife on her.
All Jessica Jones wants is a drink, with a Joan Jett song playing as background music. Is that so much to ask?

Note that Jessica’s hands are bloodied from the fight, and some of that blood may be hers. As you may have surmised, Jessica has superpowers…but she’s not invulnerable. She’s also emotionally vulnerable even years after a traumatic event ended her career as a superheroine. Now Jessica is rebuilding her life as a private investigator…and she keeps getting pulled back into the world of superpowers.
Former Doctor Who star David Tennant costars as Kilgrave, Jessica’s nemesis and the man responsible for the end of her time as a superheroine. Mike Colter also stars Luke Cage, before getting his own Netflix series next year.
All 13 episodes of Jessica Jones are scheduled to drop on Friday, November 20.
