A brand new boutique festival is coming to Sydney, with new event Cubby House set to take over the historic Strickland House this month with a lineup of impressive talent across a variety of fields.
Billed as “the ultimate Sunday fortress of fun”, Cubby House is the work of the organisers behind the mysterious Secret Garden festival and Concrete Playground and features a varied program filled with music, food, lawn games, workshops, talks and even a place where you can get a jump-start on your errands. No kidding.
“Cubby House is a temporary hidden haven created purely for you to reclaim the weekend and stand you in good stead for the week to come,” explain organisers. “Give up the password and crawl into a secret hideaway of local food and drink, lawn games and seriously great talks to ditch the Sunday blues and make the most of your weekend. We’ll even help you send that postcard to your grandma.”
A slew of Australian media figures are also on the Cubby House bill, including the host of triple j’s HackTom Tilley, Guardian Australia reporters Bridie Jabour, Adam Brereton and Michael Safi and editor-in-chief of Concrete Playground Rima Sabina Aouf.
Punters will be able to enjoy a hearty Sunday roast from Newtowners Raven’s Eye, have some fun with your favourite lawn games, grab a Bloody Mary courtesy of the guys from the Golden Age Cinema and learn a few mad skills at a workshop or two.
A ticket price of $85.20 covers everything bar the drinks which will be available for purchase at a cash bar. Head to www.cubbyhou.se to get that password and find more information.
