It turns out that we aren’t the only ones who are getting sick of games being littered with microtransactions, as even Kanye West has decided that he’s had enough of in-app purchases featured in mobile games.
Kanye took to Twitter to express his frustrations with the microtransactions, telling his followers that his two-year-old daughter, North West, accidentally makes purchases when she plays games on his iPad.
The rapper/music producer tweeted:
Fuck any game company that puts in-app purchases on kids games!!!

That makes no sense!!! We give the iPad to our child and every 5 minutes there’s a new purchase!!!

If a game is made for a 2 year old, just allow them to have fun and give the parents a break for Christ sake.

Kanye’s wife Kim Kardashian West has her own game on both the App Store and Google Play Store, with the absurdly popular Kim Kardashian: Hollywood also featuring the kind of in-app purchases that her husband criticized. However, it’s arguable that her game isn’t specifically aimed at kids, even though it does contain the kind of microtransactions Kanye doesn’t appear to be a big fan of.
It’s nice to know that even global megastars like Kanye are frustrated at bullshit “freemium” business models, though it’s unlikely that his opinion will change Kim’s stance on her own game considering that it has netted a reported $200 million thanks to its plethora of microtransactions. At the very least we suspect that this may have been the subject of a very heated debate across the West dinner table.
