Jose Mourinho is reportedly struggling to stay in control of his players at Chelsea, with them allegedly turning against their manager as the club continues to suffer one of its poorest runs of form in recent history.
According to a report from the Evening Standard, Chelsea players are growing increasingly disdainful of their manager’s behaviour as they continue to struggle to gain results in the Premier League, with him allegedly singling out members of the squad for their substandard performances despite keeping certain players in the starting line-up who have also experienced a decline in form.
It is also claimed that his treatment of Eva Carneiro, Chelsea’s long-term medic who was sensationally axed from the club for providing on-pitch treatment of Eden Hazard, has led to bad blood among the players and the manager, with her having reportedly been popular in the Chelsea squad. While many Chelsea players have openly supported Mourinho in the press, the Standard claims that behind the scenes there are feelings of unease, and one senior player has even expressed a derogatory nickname he now has for the manager.

Mourinho has undoubtedly had a tough start to this season, and the outspoken manager made his frustrations clear when, in a post-match interview following the club’s shock 3-1 defeat to Southampton, he stated that he was determined to get the club back on track and that Chelsea’s owners would have to sack him if they wanted him to leave. While many still believe that this could wind up being the case, for the time being he remains in charge of Chelsea, and will hope that after the international break they can try and find their form once again.
Unfortunately, he will not be there to cheer his club on from the sidelines, as the FA has recently issued him with a one-match ban and a £50,000 fine following comments he made regarding the refereeing in the Southampton match. Mourinho said: “When we are at the top I understand that there is quite a big pleasure in putting us down but when you are down I think you need to be a bit honest and to make clear that the referees are afraid to give decisions for Chelsea.
“The result [was] 1-1, there is a huge penalty and, once more, we don’t get. A penalty is a crucial moment in the game with the result 1-1.”
Chelsea will next face Aston Villa on Saturday, October 17th at Stamford Bridge.
