2015 World Series By The Numbers

The Mets and Royals are both on the verge of ending World Series droughts lasting nearly three decades.

The Royals? They were here just last season and were a Madison Bumgarner away from winning it all.

The Mets? It’s been since the 2000 ‘Subway Series’ since they’ve played for a title. They’ve endured six consecutive losing seasons and haven’t made the playoffs since 2006.

It’s easy to see there are endless story lines prefacing this year’s World Series. And it doesn’t stop when looking at the numbers.

WalletHub did their annual digging and found some great nuggets, including:

  • $257M: Total ad revenue generated by the 7-game World Series in 2014
  • 57 Years: Cumulative length of the Mets and Royals respective World Series title draughts
  • $500M: Amount Mets ownership had invested with Ponzi schemer Bernie Madoff
  • $50M: Estimated economic impact on Kansas City from the 2014 World Series

Their entire findings:

Game 1 of the best of seven series is Tuesday night in Kansas City.
