This December, The Comedy Network lines up two all-new comedies with the series premieres of The Jim Gaffigan Show and Impastor. Created, written, starring, and inspired by the life of comedian, actor, and best-selling author Jim Gaffigan (Hot Pursuit), The Jim Gaffigan Show premieres Tuesday, December 1st at 10:30pm. Also joining the line-up this December is the all-new dark comedy Impastor. Premiering Thursday, December 3rd at 10:30pm, Impastor stars Michael Rosenbaum (Smallville) as lowlife Buddy Dobbs, who steals a man’s identity and ends up posing as a small town’s new gay pastor.
New series The Jim Gaffigan Show follows Gaffigan’s life in New York City as he attempts to balance a family, a stand-up career, and a desire to eat all that the city has to offer. The 10-episode, half-hour comedy also stars Ashley Williams (A Most Violent Year) as Jeannie, Jim’s eccentric wife; Adam Goldberg (Fargo) as Dave, Jim’s perpetually single friend and fellow comedian; Tongayi Chirisa (Crusoe) as Father Nicholas, the family’s priest, and Michael Ian Black (Another Period) as Daniel; Jeannie’s ex-boyfriend and Jim’s biggest critic. The first season of The Jim Gaffigan Show also features appearances from Chris Rock, Steve Buscemi (Boardwalk Empire), Rachel Maddow (The Rachel Maddow Show), Hannibal Buress (Why? With Hannibal Buress), Macaulay Culkin (Home Alone), Janeane Garofalo (Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp), and many more.
From Executive Producer Christopher Vane (Wings), Impastor follows Buddy Dobbs (Rosenbaum) who is presented with a second chance when a twist of fate allows him the opportunity to assume the identity of Jonathan Barlow, a gay pastor on his way to new job in small, tight-knit town. With a new identity and job description, Buddy must settle into his new life and responsibilities as the town’s pastor, while doing his best to keep his real identity a secret. The 10-episode, half-hour series also stars Sara Rue (Less Than Perfect) as Dora, Buddy’s peppy new assistant; Mircea Monroe (Hart of Dixie) as the alluring church treasurer Alexa; Mike Kosinski (Trubadeaux: A Restaurant Movie) as the keen church secretary, Russell; and David Rasche (Bored To Death) as church president Alden Schmidt, who suspects that something about the new pastor is a little off.
In the series premiere of The Jim Gaffigan Show, “Pilot” (Tuesday, December 1st at 10:30pm), viewers are introduced to Jim (Gaffigan), his family, and his friends as he struggles to find balance between fatherhood, comedy, and food. The premiere also features a guest appearance by Fred Armisen (Saturday Night Live).
In the series premiere of Impastor, “Genesis” (Thursday, December 3rd at 10:30pm) Buddy Dobbs (Rosenbaum), a lowlife on the run from his gambling debts, gets a second chance at life when he cons a small town Lutheran community into believing he is their new gay pastor.
