David Bowie is back. Again.
The Thin White Duke debuted the music video for ‘Blackstar’ today, and it’s a 10-minute space opera epic which looks set to mark yet another reinvention for the 68-year-old.
‘Blackstar’ is our first taster of Bowie’s upcoming album of the same name, with the track split into distinct parts – the first avant-garde and jazzy, with its accompanying visuals indicating a potential continuation of Bowie’s ongoing Major Tom saga, while the second part has more in common with output from Bowie’s last album, The Next Day, with Bowie crooning whilst the squawked refrain of ‘I’m a Blackstar’ repeats itself in place of a traditional chorus.
