Former frontman of Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, Scott Weiland, has died while on tour in the US. He was just 48 years of age.
According to a post on Weiland’s official Facebook page, the musician “passed away in his sleep while on a tour stop in Bloomington, Minnesota, with his band The Wildabouts.”
“At this time we ask that the privacy of Scott’s family be respected,” it concludes.
Weiland is survived by his wife Jamie and two young children from a previous relationship.
Rumours of Weiland’s death first began to circulate after Dave Navarro of Jane’s Addition tweeted: “Just learned our friend Scott Weiland has died. So gutted, I am thinking of his family tonight.”
That tweet has since been removed, but tributes across the music world have begun to flow in for the late rocker, including messages from Velvet Revolver guitarist Dave Kushner, Nirvana’s Krist Novoselic, Amanda Palmer, Ryan Adams and more. See some of those below.
