Konami is Hiring Staff for a New Metal Gear Solid Game

Konami has posted several job listings today for a brand new Metal Gear game, indicating that even though series creator Hideo Kojima has parted ways with the company, the publisher will continue to crank out new entries in its most popular franchise.

The as-yet-unannounced game, which is simply referred to as “New Metal Gear” in the listing, sees Konami seeking “a wide range of highly-skilled developmental professionals,” with them asking for applicants to boast “boundless imagination, and the capacity for exciting new ideas.”

Kojima parted ways with his Metal Gear series following Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, with the legendary game designer and Konami’s relationship having soured over the course of this past year. With Konami retaining the license to Metal Gear, it always seemed likely that they wouldn’t want to stop developing new games in the series given that it’s one of their most lucrative IPs, but considering Kojima’s departure from the company was only announced this week this is still an incredibly swift move.

There’s no word yet on what this new Metal Gear game will look like, but many fans of the series will likely be unhappy that Konami is pushing ahead with it without any involvement from its creator.
