Radiohead are set to unveil and perform their upcoming new album at Barcelona’s Primavera Sound Festival, a press release from the events organisers has confirmed.

With the band having spent time in the studio together and announcing live shows throughout the Summer, it was always speculated that they would release a new album in 2016, though this had never been confirmed. However, a press release form Primavera obtained by Rolling Stone confirms that they’ll play the album at the festival. According to the statement, the festival will see “the presentation of the new album by the British band Radiohead.”

This news comes after the band debuted new artwork on their site W.A.S.T.E. The artwork is being used to promote the band’s upcoming performances in Portugal, Spain and Switzerland, while Johnny Greenwood and Thom Yorke’s shows outside of Radiohead are captioned with different images, leading to speculation that it would be used for the album’s cover.

Though the forthcoming ninth studio LP from the Oxford quintet was always heavily rumoured to be released this year, this marks the first time that its existence has been made official. Though it still hasn’t been given a concrete release date, and the band have yet to officially announce it, it’s now definitely on the horizon.
