The Flash and Supergirl Crossover Is Really Happening

In DC’s comic book universe, a meeting between The Flash and Supergirl would be fairly commonplace. But in the worlds of DC’s superhero dramas, a Flash and Supergirl team up is huge news…and it’s finally happening next month!

Grant Gustin will appear as Barry Allen/The Flash on the March 28th episode of Supergirl on CBS. But for now, there are no plans for Melissa Benoist to appear on The Flash as Supergirl.

“We are so incredibly excited to announce something that we have dreamed of happening since we starting making Supergirl,” said Supergirl executive producers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg in a statement (via Deadline). “We want to thank Grant Gustin for making the time to come visit (on top of his already immense workload) and all of the folks at CBS, The CW, Warner Bros. and DC for working this out. And finally thanks to the fans and journalists who have kept asking for this to happen. It is our pleasure and hope to create an episode worthy of everyone’s enthusiasm and support.”

While this will be the first onscreen meeting of the Flash and Supergirl, Gustin and Benoist were costars on the Fox musical drama, Glee. Gustin and Benoist also shared the cover of Variety with producer Greg Berlanti last May.

With appearances this season on Arrow, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, and his own series, Gustin will be the first actor to portray a DC superhero in live-action across four different shows within the same year.

The story details for Supergirl’s crossover episode are still under wraps, but the early rumors are that the multiverse storyline from The Flash’s second season will play into Gustin’s guest appearance.
