This ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’ Video Proves Spoilers Are Totally Fine Now

“Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Episode VIII.”

And welcome, finally and officially, to a time when it’s okay to talk about Star Wars: The Force Awakens without having to issue a spoiler warning. Earlier today Disney revealed the Star Wars: Episode VIII announcement video, which shows the very last scene of The Force Awakens and doesn’t bother warning you about it, which means the filmmakers no longer give a damn and neither should you. If you haven’t seen The Force Awakens by now, that’s kind of your own fault isn’t it?

So huzzah! Han Solo was killed by his own son! Well, not “huzzah,” since that kinda sucked for him, but it’s good to finally be able to say that without adding the words “spoiler warning” in a bright red font ahead of time. Sigh… what a brave new world. Thanks Disney, for giving the all clear with the following video.

Anyway, Star Wars:Episode VIII has officially begun filming at Pinewood Studios in London on February 15th, 2016. Returning stars include Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, and Andy Serkis, as we more or less expected.

StarWars.com also announced the addition of three new cast members for Episode VIII, including Benicio Del Toro (Guardians of the Galaxy), Laura Dern (Wild) and Kelly Marie Tran, whom the official site describes as “a talented newcomer.” But she’s not THAT new. Tran has 24 credits already on IMDb, and has appeared on the TV series About a Boy and in multiple College Humor shorts. Here she is in Are You Asian Enough?, in which she plays a character named “Full Asian.”
