A student from the University of Miami lost his life after attending to the 2016 Ultra Music Festival. 21-year-old Adam Levine received treatment at the festival on Friday, March 18 before being transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he later died, according to The Miami Herald.
He died of complications of a seizure, reported WSVN-Ch.7.
On Sunday night, Ultra Music Festival security chief Ray Martinez released a statement:
It is our understanding that Adam Levine, one of our patrons, was here on Friday night. We can tell you that our security personnel noticed he was having difficulties and immediately called Miami Fire Rescue to get him medical attention…Unfortunately he passed away at the hospital.”
Martinez’s statement also said the festival was cooperating with police in the investigation into Levine’s death.
In a tribute posted to Facebook, the University of Miami remembered Levine as “a hardworking, passionate leader who always dedicated himself completely to every project he was involved with.”
“In addition to his leadership,” the post continues, “we will always remember his warm, outgoing personality and his incredible ability to brighten anyone’s day.”
Th university will hold a candlelight vigil for Levine at 9 p.m. Wednesday. Then on Friday, the University of Miami Hillel is hosting a memorial service during the Kabbalat Shabbat services at 6:30 p.m.
“I know the UM community will join me in supporting Adam’s family and his many friends and honoring Adam’s memory during this difficult time,” said Patricia A. Whitely, vice president for student affairs, in a statement.
“Truly beloved by all, Adam’s outgoing, caring personality and sense of humor was known to always make his friends smile. With a remarkably joyful disposition, he enjoyed helping his fellow students.”
