The Lawyer For Making A Murderer’s Steven Avery Says She Has A New Prime Suspect

The new lawyer for Making A Murder‘s Steven Avery has revealed that there is a new prime suspect in the infamous case of his murder conviction.

Avery is currently serving life in prison for the murder of Teresa Halbach, and his case has been made into the acclaimed documentary Making A Murder.

Kathleen Zellner is currently defending Avery at his appeal and has a team of experts re-examining the case. An in-depth profile in Newsweek outlines that Zellner has a couple of new suspects who both knew the victim Teresa Halbach.

“I’d say there’s one, leading the pack by a lot.” she says. “But I don’t want to scare him off, I don’t want him to run.”

Zeliner suggests also that Avery’s defence team at trial as well as the police did not investigate Habach’s life adequately. She believes too that Avery suffered from ineffective counsel, with defence attorney’s Dran Strange and Jerry Buting failing to argue that Halbach’s cell-phone records indicated that she left Avery’s property still alive.

The news comes shortly after ‘Making A Murderer’ creators Laura Ricardi and Moira Demos gave a talk as part of Sydney’s Spectrum Now festival earlier this month.

Zeliner has been tweeting developments in the trial, so follow her for more updates.
