Weekend One attendees at this year’s Coachella Arts + Music Festival were excited for Ice Cube’s onstage reunion with N.W.A. members MC Ren and DJ Yella during the rapper’s pre-GNR set, but the notable absence of Dr. Dre was thick in the air. Weekend Two revelers got the full N.W.A. reunion treatment, MC Ren, DJ Yella, and Dre — took the stage for an enormously celebrated, memorable performance.
After Ren, Yella, and Ice pumped the crowd up with the group’s signature hit “Straight Outta Compton,” Cube asked the crowd:”Is there a doctor in the motherfuckin’ house?”

The full group tackled “Still D.R.E.” and Tupac Shakur’s “California Love,” but interestingly enough, didn’t do any of their N.W.A. material. Nonetheless, it was a moment of wild exhilaration for any fan of the original gangsta rap crew.
Cube also surprised audience members when he brought out Kendrick Lamar, who inducted N.W.A. into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame earlier this month, during his set to perform “Alright” from his album To Pimp a Butterfly.
