Tasmanian man John Hyslop has said what everyone is thinking, offering HBO $10 per episode of Game Of Thrones he downloads if they give him the means. Keep in mind the episodes that have already been released on the iTunes Store go for $3.49, so he’s offering to pay premium prices.
This of course comes as the studio has ramped up efforts to curb pirating of the show by Australian fans of the epic fantasy series, having recently sent out warning letters to downloaders as well as sending take down requests to torrent sites Kickass Torrents and Torrentz.
As Hyslop points out in his post though, with the only legal options for watching Game Of Thrones in Australia is dealing with Foxtel – which he describes as like “an all you can eat banquet at a cheap Indian restaurant: It costs you $30 to get in when all you really wanted was the butter chicken, and your only memory of the whole experience is the burning sensation left on your ring the morning after.”
This guy. What a poet.
Linking to an article by Mark Serrels for Kotaku about how much of a searing pain in the bottom it is trying to get Foxtel’s streaming service Foxtel Play to work, despite the ferocity of Hyslop’s imagery, it’s hard to argue with his assessment.
Anyway you can read his whole post here below.
