The Leo Awards, which recognize accomplishments in British Columbia in television and film, took place this weekend after a three-day event, and shows that received accolades ran the gamut from dramas like 19-2 and Motive to hit series such as Blackstone.
Best Dramatic Series went to The Romeo Section (a show that took home five awards in total), Best Documentary Program or Series was awarded to Sonic Magic: The Wonder and Science of Sound, and Best Music, Comedy or Variety Program or Series was given to John Mann Here and Now.
In the film category, the flick The Devout won a total of seven awards, including Best Motion Picture, Best Lead Performance by a Male in a Motion Picture (which went to star Charlie Carrick), and Best Lead Performance by a Female in a Motion Picture (Ali Liebert).
The Leo Awards, which are held every year in Vancouver, were created by the Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Foundation of British Columbia and almost two decades ago. They give out annual awards in categories like live action, adult dramatic, documentary film and television, feature films, and short films.
